Arteta Caught Raging at Three Arsenal Attackers During Napoli Win

Mikel Arteta was caught shouting at three of his attacking players during Arsenal's win over Napoli, telling them to get back and defend as the away side pushed for an equaliser.

Arsenal made it three wins from three in the Champions League on Wednesday night, beating Napoli 1-0 thanks to a Martin Odegaard goal in the 75th minute. Despite the win, the Gunners missed a string of chances and were far from their sharpest in front of goal.

After one missed chance that could have made it 2-0, Arteta grew frustrated with Kai Havertz, Noni Madueke and Christos Tzolis for not tracking back quickly enough as Napoli looked to hit back late on. TNT Sports co-commentator Lucy Ward spotted the moment and described what she saw.

"Mikel Arteta was absolutely raging on the sidelines that Havertz, Madueke and Tzolis weren't recovering after that attack," Ward said. "It was so interesting. As the Arsenal attack finished, those three all sort of ambled back, and Mikel Arteta ran down the sidelines and shouted at them to recover."

Arsenal held on for the win, in what looks set to be one of their tougher away trips in this season's Champions League. They still have a difficult match against Bayern Munich still to come later in the competition.

Speaking after the game, Arteta said his side deserved the win and played better than the scoreline suggested. "We fully deserved the three points," he said. "The performance probably doesn't reflect the result, the team was superb. We showed quality in a lot of moments to break them down and it was a shame because we missed so many great chances."

He admitted his team should have made the game more comfortable given their chances. "On any other day the result would be different. We should have done it in a different way because of the amount of chances we created but we got the win in the end."

Arteta also had praise for Odegaard, who scored the only goal of the game. "Martin is contributing with goals that are impacting results which is what we want from our attacking players," he said. "We want them to be decisive and certainly he was again today."
