Juventus Weigh Up Brozovic Move as Midfield Crisis Deepens

Juventus are reportedly looking at signing free agent Marcelo Brozovic after losing Manuel Locatelli to injury for the rest of 2026, a blow that has left the club scrambling for midfield cover.

Locatelli's injury means he joins Khephren Thuram on the sidelines, with both players having gone under the knife and unlikely to return before 2027. Add in a minor knock to Weston McKennie, and Juve's midfield options are thinning out fast.

At this point, the club is essentially one bad injury away from a full blown crisis. The problem is made worse by the fact that Juve cannot sign players still under contract elsewhere until the January window opens.

Brozovic became a free agent after his contract with Al Nassr was not renewed, and he is reportedly keen to return to Europe. Given his experience and the fact he is available immediately, he looks like a sensible fit for a club in Juve's current position.

There's also a personal connection that could work in Juve's favor. Manager Luciano Spalletti knows Brozovic well from their time together, and that familiarity could make the midfielder more open to joining.

Brozovic's long track record in Italian football would likely make settling in easier too, assuming he can get up to speed physically and be ready for competitive matches without much delay.

With Locatelli and Thuram both out for extended stretches and McKennie's fitness now also a concern, Juve badly need reinforcements in the middle of the park. Brozovic's free agent status gives them a rare chance to add depth before January rolls around.

For Spalletti, the main goal now is simply making sure his midfield can hold up over the course of the season. If Brozovic can prove his fitness quickly, he could end up being exactly the kind of experienced option Juve need to steady things.
