Maduka Okoye Finally Joins Super Eagles Camp Ahead of AFCON Qualifiers
Goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has finally linked up with the Super Eagles camp in Ikot Ekpene ahead of Nigeria's 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau.
The Udinese shot stopper touched down in Uyo on Friday morning, giving head coach Eric Chelle his full 24 man squad for the first time ahead of the two fixtures.
Okoye's delayed arrival had raised some questions in the buildup, but Chelle explained on Thursday that the goalkeeper had been given permission to stay behind and deal with some matters at his club first.
"His club asked me to allow him to take care of some club-related activities, and I agreed. Now, I have to manage the situation," Chelle told reporters.
Despite now being with the squad, Okoye is not expected to feature in Friday's opening qualifier against Madagascar at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
