Serie A: Roma and Inter Draw 2-2, Lazio and Cagliari Claim Away Wins

Round 5 of Serie A saw two sides come from behind to earn a share of the spoils, while a couple of away teams showed just how far efficient finishing and top-class goalkeeping can go.

The pick of the round came at the Stadio Olimpico, where Roma and Inter shared the points in a thrilling 2-2 draw. Manu Koné scored twice in the first half to put Roma firmly in control, but Inter hit back almost immediately after the restart through Lautaro Martínez, who then grabbed his second from a corner with 11 minutes left to make it 2-2. Koné picked up the top individual rating on the day for his double, though fans on the night went for Martínez instead. It was a game of two clear halves, Roma dominant before the break, Inter much the stronger side after it.

Lazio picked up a professional 2-0 win away at Venezia, despite having less of the ball and fewer shots than the hosts. Christos Mandas was the hero, saving a first-half penalty from John Yeboah and adding six more stops to keep a clean sheet. Mattia Zaccagni and Tijjani Noslin scored either side of the hour mark to make sure of the points, and Mandas was a deserved man of the match after his goalkeeping display swung the result Lazio's way.

There was a similar story at Bluenergy Stadium, where Cagliari won 1-0 away at Udinese despite the hosts having the vast majority of possession and firing off 26 shots to Cagliari's five. Daniel Maldini's early second-half finish proved to be the only goal of the game, and goalkeeper Elia Caprile made sure it stood up, making six saves to earn the top rating on the pitch and see his side home.

Elsewhere, Bologna and Torino played out a 1-1 draw at the Renato Dall'Ara. Federico Bernardeschi put Bologna ahead early with a low finish, but Torino grew into the game as it went on and got their reward through substitute Sandro Kulenović, who levelled things up with 13 minutes to go. Kulenović was named the standout performer on the night for his impact off the bench, even though the fans preferred Bernardeschi for his overall display.
