Bournemouth Handed Alex Scott Injury Blow as England Midfielder Ruled Out for Six to Eight Weeks

Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott has pulled out of the England squad for Tuesday's game against the Czech Republic with a thigh injury.

The 23-year-old is expected to be out for six to eight weeks with a quadriceps problem. He was excellent on his full debut in England's 7-0 Nations League win over Croatia on Saturday. He felt the issue before that match but still played 70 minutes in central midfield alongside Elliot Anderson before being taken off.

Arsenal defender Ezri Konsa is also out of the game at Wembley as a precaution. The 28-year-old will go back to the Premier League champions for treatment on an injury.

England coach Thomas Tuchel was full of praise for Scott after the Croatia game. "First start and what a start, what a performance," Tuchel said. "He is so smooth on the ball, his decision making is at the highest level.

"He plays with so much confidence. He is so active, so confident. The work rate off the ball.

"He is just the complete package. He gave us a lot of mobility and a lot of variety and work rate in the centre of the pitch."

Scott made his England debut in a 2-0 win over the Czech Republic in Prague on Tuesday, then got his full debut four days later.

The news is another blow for Bournemouth, who face a busy run of nine games between 10 October and 8 November. On top of their weekend league games, they play on a Wednesday or Thursday for four straight weeks. Those games are Europa League ties against Sturm Graz, AC Milan and Sparta Prague, plus a Carabao Cup fourth-round tie with Aston Villa.

Scott joins French forward Eli Junior Kroupi on the injury list. The 20-year-old is still out after a foot problem in pre-season.

The Cherries sit 17th in the Premier League and have not won in five games, with three draws and two defeats. Marco Rose's side beat Lincoln to move on in the EFL Cup and won 2-1 at La Liga side Real Sociedad on their European debut.

They return to league action at Chelsea on Saturday (15:00 WAT). After that they face Sunderland, Manchester United, Leeds and Ipswich before the November international break.
