Dani Olmo Rejected Bayern Twice Before Joining Barcelona, Agent Reveals

Dani Olmo's agent says the Barcelona midfielder turned down Bayern Munich twice before he made his move back to Spain.

Agent Andy Bara made the claim on the 'Inkubator' podcast, as reported by Spanish outlet Sport. The first approach came while Olmo was at Dinamo Zagreb, before his €20 million move to RB Leipzig in January 2020. Bayern came back in the summer of 2024, but Olmo chose Barcelona in a deal worth €62m overall.

Bara said he was the one who pushed Olmo to say no the first time. "He rejected Bayern on my initiative when he was at Dinamo. I told him: 'You need to take another step', and that's what happened."

When Bayern tried again four years later, other big clubs were also interested, and Bara admitted the Barcelona choice came with some doubts. "Later, he received another offer from Bayern as a Leipzig player, and Barcelona and other clubs were also interested.

"We chose Barcelona, which perhaps wasn't the best choice, but everything worked out for him afterwards. He won the European Championship, the Nations League, the World Cup, and is one of the ten best players in the national team. His story is like a movie, and I'm happy to have been part of it."

Barcelona are top of La Liga with a perfect 21 points from seven games, and Olmo has three assists so far this season. Hansi Flick's side host Getafe on Saturday, October 10, in their first game after the international break.
