Ex-Liverpool Star Names World's Best Player Ahead of Barcelona vs PSG

Former PSG midfielder Mohamed Sissoko says tonight's Champions League game between Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain could be "a kind of early final", and he believes Lamine Yamal is the best player in the world right now.

Sissoko spoke to the WinWin portal about the match. "I think it's going to be a tough game, because we are talking about Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona, and both teams have exceptional players. I hope there will be a lot of goals. It could be considered a kind of early final," he said.

He also rated the two managers highly, calling Luis Enrique and Hansi Flick among the best coaches in the world. His biggest praise went to Yamal.

"He's playing at an extraordinary level and, in my opinion, he's currently the best player in the world," he said. He also backed the Barca teenager to win the Ballon d'Or. "He deserves it one hundred percent."

The former Mali international also spoke about a move to Barcelona that never happened while he was at Liverpool. He said the Spanish club made a real push for him.

"It's true, I received an offer from Barcelona when I was playing for Liverpool. The talks were serious, but in the end the operation did not materialize," he said, as reported by SPORT.

He said Liverpool did not want to let him go, and he was happy where he was. "Liverpool refused to sell me and I did not want to leave either, since things were going very well for me." Asked if he regrets it, he was clear. "Honestly, no, I don't regret it at all."

Sissoko also played for Juventus during his career.
