Fulham Boss Alvaro Arbeloa Fined £25,000 by FA Over Man Utd Referee Comments

Fulham boss Alvaro Arbeloa has been fined £25,000 and given a warning by the Football Association over comments he made after his side's 1-1 draw with Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday, 20 September.

The FA said Arbeloa acted in an improper manner by making remarks in a post-match interview that implied bias or questioned the integrity of a match official. He admitted the charge.

"Alvaro Arbeloa has been fined £25,000 and received a warning for comments made after the Premier League fixture between Fulham and Manchester United on Sunday 20 September," the FA said in a statement.

Arbeloa was upset after United's Matheus Cunha scored a late equaliser. He spoke to Sky Sports and brought up the controversial decision to allow Erling Haaland's goal for Manchester City against United a week earlier.

"All fouls for them. You can see before they scored, the foul against [Harry] Maguire, he's a guy who is 100 kilos. Every decision was for them," he said.

He went on: "And I knew. I knew after the game against [Man City] that they [would not] let [Manchester United] lose here. We deserved a little bit more."

He also felt his team were unlucky. "We were so close. So, so close. We were a little bit unlucky again. We knew it would be difficult against this big team," he said.

"Also we knew what happened last week. We have seen what the referees have been doing all the match so it was a difficult game. And we were unlucky."

The Spaniard has yet to win a Premier League game in charge of Fulham. The club sit bottom of the table with two points from six games.
