Harry Kane Set to Extend Bayern Stay Until 2029

Bayern Munich have agreed a new contract in principle with Harry Kane that will keep him at the club until 2029, according to Sky Germany.

The England captain is 33. The final paperwork has not been signed yet, but the big hurdles in the talks have been cleared.

Fabrizio Romano says the deal is agreed in principle on salary, while the exact length and the performance-related clauses are still being worked out. The news also puts an end to talk of a Premier League return late in his career.

The deal comes when Kane's stock is at its highest, as he is seen as a leading candidate for the 2026 Ballon d'Or. His finishing and leadership have helped Bayern stay on top at home while remaining a feared team in Europe.

Kane has been a revelation since leaving Tottenham Hotspur for Bayern in 2023. He has scored 152 goals in just 154 games in all competitions.

In September, he became the fastest player in Bundesliga history to reach 100 goals, doing it in 98 appearances and beating a record that had stood for nearly half a century.

England manager Thomas Tuchel, who coached Kane at Bayern, says his hunger for records is a big part of his success.

"I think all these number nines in the world, no matter in which league or in youth football, they are built a little bit differently. They not only do it so that their team wins, but they also do it for themselves, they do it for the records. How many can I score, how many can I assist, who is the best scorer in the league, who do I have to overtake, where is the next record? You will not find any goalscorer of this calibre who has not these individual goals set up and pushing him to the limit. So that is what drives him. That's how Harry is built," Tuchel said.
