Ligue 1 Saturday Roundup: PSG Win, Brest Hit Five and Monaco Drop Points
Paris Saint-Germain, Brest and Lorient claimed victories in Ligue 1 on Saturday, while Monaco were held to a 2-2 draw by Toulouse. PSG beat Le Mans 3-1, Brest thrashed Angers 5-1, Lorient edged Paris FC 1-0, and Lille defeated Le Havre by the same scoreline.
PSG took control against Le Mans through Lucas Beraldo’s 19th-minute penalty, but Louis Mafouta equalised nine minutes after the break. Substitute Khvicha Kvaratskhelia restored PSG’s lead two minutes after coming on, before Maghnes Akliouche added a third in the 68th minute. Le Mans goalkeeper Nicolas Kocik saved a late penalty from Désiré Doué, but PSG held on for a 3-1 win.
Brest produced the biggest result of the day, beating Angers 5-1 after scoring four first-half goals. Ludovic Ajorque and Lucas Tousart scored headers before Kenny Lala converted a penalty, while Mama Baldé made it 4-0 just before the break. Prosper Peter pulled one back for Angers early in the second half, but Pathé Mboup restored Brest’s four-goal lead. Angers were reduced to 10 men when Jordan Lefort was sent off following a VAR review.
Monaco let a two-goal lead slip as Toulouse fought back to earn a 2-2 draw. Edan Diop opened the scoring in the 29th minute before Matthis Abline doubled Monaco’s advantage nine minutes later. Casper Tengstedt pulled one back from the penalty spot shortly after half-time, then set up Sion Oppong for the equaliser in the 59th minute.
Lorient secured a narrow 1-0 win over Paris FC, with substitute Gabin Bernardeau scoring the decisive goal in the 68th minute. Paris FC enjoyed more possession and attempted twice as many shots, but Lorient defended well to protect their lead and claim all three points.
Lille also recorded a 1-0 victory, beating Le Havre thanks to Dilane Bakwa’s fifth-minute strike. Le Havre created more chances but struggled to test goalkeeper Berke Özer consistently. Their task became harder when Ayumu Seko was sent off in the 61st minute, and Lille held firm to secure the win.
