PSG Make €3.3m Move to Gain Advantage Over Arsenal and Chelsea Target
Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly paid Braga €3.3m just to be first in line for midfielder Mario Dorgeles, Foot Mercato reports.
The money did not bring a new player into Luis Enrique's squad. Instead, it buys a "right of preference" on the 22-year-old Ivory Coast international. That puts PSG at the front of the queue if Braga ever decide to sell. The deal came to light in the Portuguese club's latest financial accounts. It gives PSG a privileged position covering 100% of the economic and sporting rights in a future sale.
Dorgeles joined Braga in the summer of 2025 from Danish side Nordsjaelland for a reported €11.5m. He came through the Right to Dream academy. In his first season in Portugal he scored 7 goals and set up 4 in 39 games in all competitions. He has played a bit less in the early weeks of 2026-27, but his value is still high. PSG appear to expect it to rise further, and the clause protects them from being priced out later or losing him to a rival.
Plenty of clubs have been watching him. Arsenal and Chelsea were strongly linked while he was in Denmark, with scouts often at Nordsjaelland games. Newcastle United and Brighton were also said to be interested. The clause puts a wall between Dorgeles and those English suitors.
The two clubs are close. Qatar Sports Investments, which owns PSG, holds a 29.6% stake in Braga and is its second-largest shareholder. That does not force players to move between the clubs, but it makes a deal like this easier to set up.
For now Dorgeles stays in Portugal. The payment does not guarantee a transfer will ever happen, but it gives PSG a safety net.
