Real Madrid 'Convinced' Barcelona Will Face UEFA Action Over Negreira Case

Real Madrid are reportedly "convinced" that UEFA will act against Barcelona after sending the governing body a dossier on the Negreira case.

UEFA confirmed on Thursday that it had received the documents from Madrid. The club then called for "utmost urgency" in the matter.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Madrid believe their dossier "will be key for UEFA to take action against Barcelona." They feel UEFA "now have the necessary information on the case," which they say was missing before.

Madrid also think Barcelona's payments to Negreira "constitute a serious violation of UEFA's code of ethics," and that the dossier shows why the Catalan club should be punished.

If UEFA does act, Florentino Perez and his team are hoping Barcelona will lose their titles and get a European ban. Perez has said before that seven titles were stolen from Madrid because of the alleged corruption.

Barcelona have already answered. In a statement this week, the club said UEFA has not opened any new proceedings against it, and that it is still waiting for the criminal case to be heard in Spain.
