UWCL Thursday Roundup: Manchester City Held by Real Madrid as PSG, Køge Win Big

There was another frustrating night for Manchester City, a comfortable home win for PSG, and a stoppage-time drama in Vienna as Thursday's Women's Champions League action unfolded.

Manchester City drew for the second week running, held 1-1 at home by Real Madrid. Linda Caicedo put the visitors ahead midway through the first half with a clever finish, before Khadija Shaw levelled things up early in the second half with a powerful finish of her own. City had chances throughout an open, attacking game, with Lauren Hemp, Yui Hasegawa and Beth Mead all squandering good openings, while Caicedo continued to threaten at the other end and saw an effort ruled out for offside. There was late controversy too, as what looked like a Real Madrid goal was waved off after Mead collided with the referee in the build-up, prompting a furious reaction from the Real Madrid bench. It leaves City with two points from their opening two games, both draws against tough opposition, following last week's comeback result against Bayern Munich.

Paris Saint-Germain made home advantage count in style, beating OH Leuven 5-0. Racheal Ajibade opened the scoring inside ten minutes, and Naomi Feller added two more either side of the hour mark before Sakina Karchaoui and Yayá rounded off the rout late on.

HB Køge also enjoyed a big night, beating Servette Chênois 5-1 at home. The hosts were three goals up by half time through Mille Schultz, Nadia Nadim and an own goal from N. Carage, and although Servette pulled one back just after the break through L. Ballesté, Køge added further goals from K. Carusa and E. Óskarsdóttir to put the result beyond doubt.

Finally, Inter Milan snatched a dramatic late point away at Austria Wien, drawing 1-1 after Modesta Uka had given the hosts the lead in the first half. Inter looked set to leave empty-handed until Ivana Andrés struck deep into stoppage time to rescue a point.
