Bundesliga Drama: Elversberg Shock Leverkusen as Union Frankfurt Thriller Ends 3-3

Bundesliga action delivered plenty of drama today, with a lower-table side pulling off a big upset and two matches ending in wild high-scoring draws.

The headline result came from Elversberg, who shocked Bayer Leverkusen 3-2. Elversberg raced out to a two-goal lead inside the first nine minutes through L. Petkov and C. Campbell, then added a third just after halftime through D. Mokwa. Leverkusen tried to fight back late with goals from P. Schick and C. Kofane, but it wasn't enough to stop the upset.

There was also drama at the Alte Försterei, where Union Berlin and Eintracht Frankfurt shared six goals in a 3-3 draw. Frankfurt's Y. Ebnoutalib grabbed a hat trick, scoring twice in the first quarter hour and again in the second half. Union kept clawing back though, with goals from E. Latte Lath, L. Querfeld and a stoppage time equalizer from T. Skarke to snatch a point.

Köln also came out on top in a five goal thriller, beating Hoffenheim 3-2. Hoffenheim led at the break after A. Daghim's goal, but Köln turned things around in the second half. S. El Mala pulled it level, then T. Dallinga scored twice to seal the win for the home side.

RB Leipzig had a much smoother afternoon, cruising past Borussia Monchengladbach 3-0. R. Baku, A. Nusa and R. Reitz all got on the scoresheet as Leipzig controlled the game from start to finish.

Meanwhile Mainz 05 and Paderborn played out a goalless draw, with neither side able to find a breakthrough at the MEWA Arena.

One match is still being played. Borussia Dortmund are hosting Hamburger SV at Signal Iduna Park, with that result still to come.
