Premier League Saturday: Liverpool Held, Everton Rescue Point and Hull City Win Again

Saturday’s Premier League action delivered plenty of late drama, with Liverpool, Everton and Hull City all involved in closely fought encounters. 

Liverpool were held to a 2-2 draw by Nottingham Forest at Anfield, Everton rescued a point against Bournemouth with a stoppage-time equaliser, while Hull City maintained their perfect start with a late winner at Coventry City.  

Tarkowski Denies Bournemouth Late On

James Tarkowski struck an added-time equaliser as Everton denied Bournemouth what would have been Marco Rose's first win as head coach, with the game finishing 1-1 at the Vitality Stadium.

Alex Scott had put the Cherries ahead in the 41st minute, and the goal looked set to add to a good week for the club after they were paired with AC Milan in a glamour Europa League tie on Friday. But in the 91st minute, Tarkowski pounced on a mix-up between Bournemouth pair Ryan Christie and Marcus Tavernier, drilling home from a corner to snatch a point for the visitors.

Bournemouth striker Evanilson had earlier missed a great chance to seal the win for Rose's side, while Everton's in-form forward Thierno Barry also passed up several opportunities for David Moyes' team before Tarkowski's late intervention.

Hull Make It Two From Two With Late Winner at Coventry

Hull City kept up their impressive start to Premier League life as substitute Liam Millar struck a late winner in a 1-0 victory away at Coventry City.

Millar finished off a quick counter-attack with eight minutes left on the clock, handing Sergej Jakirovic's side back-to-back wins to open the season following their opening-weekend victory over Manchester United. It made for a bitter afternoon for Coventry, who were playing their first ever Premier League match at the CBS Arena and taking on Hull for the first time in the top flight. Despite dominating large spells of the game, the hosts couldn't turn their control into clear-cut chances.

Coventry's best opportunity came almost by accident, when a shot from Taiwo Awoniyi deflected off him at the back post late in the first half and forced a good save out of Konstantinos Tzolakis. Hull also had chances of their own, with Nobel Mendy, one of the goal-scoring heroes from last weekend, going close with a fierce half-volley in the opening period.

Liverpool Held to Another Draw

Earlier in the day, Victor Munoz marked his home debut with a late equaliser as Liverpool were held to a 2-2 draw by Nottingham Forest at Anfield, leaving Andoni Iraola still without a win as Reds boss.

Liverpool trailed twice in the match. Dan Ndoye gave Forest a deserved lead in the first half before Alexander Isak levelled for the hosts on the hour mark. Forest then edged back in front through a Morgan Gibbs-White penalty, putting them in sight of a third straight win at the venue, before £34.5 million summer signing Munoz struck eight minutes from time to rescue a point for Liverpool.
