Arsenal to Wear All Red Against Napoli for First Time Since 2022

Arsenal will step out in an all red kit for Wednesday night's Champions League opener against Napoli, swapping their usual white shorts for red ones for the first time in four years.

Arsenal's home kit normally pairs a red and white shirt with white shorts, and red or white socks, and this season's kit follows that same setup. But even though the Gunners will wear their regular home shirt against Napoli, the shorts will be different.

According to Arsenal Shirt Collection, this marks the first time since 2022 that Arsenal have gone fully red for a match.

The change comes down to UEFA's stricter rules around kit clashes compared to other competitions. Napoli's home kit also features white shorts, so Arsenal have had to switch things up to avoid a clash on the night.

This is not new territory for Arsenal, either. They wore an all red kit against Watford back in 2022, and before that, against Napoli itself in 2019, a game remembered for Alexandre Lacazette's goal that sent Arsenal through to the Europa League semi-finals.

The last time Arsenal wore their all-red kit was against Watford in 2022, and before that, against Napoli in 2019.

Going back further, Arsenal also wore all red against West Bromwich Albion in 2017. Across those three matches, the Gunners won two and drew one, a record they will be hoping to keep alive on Wednesday night.
