Carabao Cup Fourth-Round Draw: Liverpool to Host Chelsea as Arsenal Face Fleetwood

Liverpool will host Chelsea in the standout tie of the Carabao Cup fourth round, a draw that will see Xabi Alonso return to Anfield for the first time since leaving Liverpool to take charge at Stamford Bridge.

The all Premier League clash was the pick of Wednesday's draw, but there was plenty of other big news too. Arsenal have been handed a trip to League Two side Fleetwood Town, who've reached the fourth round for the first time in their history after beating Sheffield United 1-0. Fleetwood are now the lowest ranked team left in the competition and will host Arsenal at their Highbury Stadium, a fitting name for the tie.

Arsenal go into the game full of confidence after thrashing Ipswich 4-2 on Tuesday night, having finished as beaten finalists in the competition last season.

Holders Manchester City still have to get past Norwich City in their third round match on Thursday, but whoever wins that tie will go on to host Brighton in round four.

Sunderland were drawn at home against Brentford in another meeting between two top flight sides, while Crystal Palace's win over Middlesbrough last week earned them an away trip to Fulham.

Everton, still chasing their first major trophy since 1995, will take on Newcastle, who lifted the Carabao Cup back in 2024-25, at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Bournemouth have been given a home tie against Aston Villa, whose win over Coventry on Wednesday, a 3-1 victory, was their first domestic win of the season.

Bradford City and Peterborough, the only two League One clubs left in the competition, have been paired together, with Bradford set to host that game at home.

Unlike the third round, which was spread across two weeks, all fourth round matches will be played in the week commencing October 26.

Wednesday night also produced one of the shocks of the competition so far, as Brighton came from 2-0 down to beat Manchester United 3-2 at Old Trafford. Everton, Fleetwood and Aston Villa also picked up wins on the night.

Here's the full draw:

  • Fleetwood Town vs Arsenal
  • Manchester City or Norwich City vs Brighton
  • Everton vs Newcastle
  • Sunderland vs Brentford
  • Liverpool vs Chelsea
  • Bradford City vs Peterborough
  • Fulham vs Crystal Palace
  • Bournemouth vs Aston Villa

All fixtures will be played in the week commencing October 26.
