Flamingos Beat Burkina Faso to Maintain Perfect Start at WAFU B U17 Girls Cup
Nigeria's Flamingos kept their winning run going at the 2026 WAFU B U17 Girls Cup, beating Burkina Faso 2-0 at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro on Monday.
Nigeria dominated the ball and pushed forward from the start, but Burkina Faso's defence held firm through a tightly contested first half. Despite creating a number of chances, the Flamingos couldn't find a breakthrough before the break, and the two sides went in level at 0-0.
The second half saw Nigeria come out with renewed energy, pinning Burkina Faso back and increasing the pressure in the final third. That persistence eventually paid off in the 82nd minute, when Mary Dunstan slotted home a composed finish to put the Flamingos ahead.
Burkina Faso had no real answer as Nigeria continued to dictate the game, and the result was made safe deep into stoppage time when Oluwakemi Adegbuyi added a second to wrap up all three points.
The win means the Flamingos now have a perfect nine points from three matches, keeping their unbeaten run in the tournament intact. Attention now turns to their next fixture as Nigeria look to build on their strong start and push on for the WAFU B U17 Girls Cup title.
