Man Utd Could Make January Move for Crystal Palace Star Tyrick Mitchell

Manchester United are increasingly likely to move for Crystal Palace left back Tyrick Mitchell, with reports suggesting a January offer could be accepted.

Mitchell has been a regular for his boyhood club Palace for more than three seasons now, and at 27, with just one year left on his contract, he could become an affordable option for one of the Premier League's bigger clubs either in January or next summer. United are among the sides being linked with him.

It is a position United probably wish they had already strengthened. Luke Shaw has missed games through injury this season, and Patrick Dorgu struggled when asked to fill in at left back, a problem that traces back to United not signing anyone there in the last window. Over the summer, INEOS focused their spending mainly on central midfield, even though left back, centre back, left wing and up front all arguably needed attention too.

United had been priced out of a move for Newcastle's Lewis Hall and chose not to pursue an alternative at the time, but as we reported on Tuesday, Mitchell now looks like a realistic option for United in January, with a deal considered doable. Chelsea and Liverpool are also keeping tabs on him though.

According to Football Insider, Mitchell himself is said to be very keen on the move, and would find it hard to turn down an offer if United came calling, with the club described as clear admirers of the defender.

United could still end up revisiting a move for Hall further down the line, even after he recently signed a new contract at Newcastle running to 2031. In a recent interview, Hall suggested he wouldn't rule out leaving one day, even though staying was an easy decision for him at the time.

"I think when you're at a team you don't think too far into the future," Hall told Chronicle Live. "Obviously, I'm really grateful for the contract that I've received and the trust that I've been given from the board and from the manager and everything like that. But I'm just taking it game by game, just trying to do the best I can for this club. We've got ambitions and as long as we achieve these ambitions and achieve what we want to achieve, I'm sure I'll be here for a long time."

He also explained what convinced him to commit his future to Newcastle. "After not many conversations, not many training sessions, I knew that the manager was going to be really good for this club and I knew that as a team, bringing in new players and improving the squad was really important and as soon as we did that, it was a no-brainer really to sign," Hall said.
