NPFL Roundup: Inter Lagos Make History, Rangers Win Again and Kano Pillars Hit Four

There was a slice of history for one of the league's newcomers, a big win for the defending champions, and goals aplenty across a busy round of Nigeria Premier Football League action.

Inter Lagos picked up their first-ever win in the Nigeria Premier Football League, beating Enyimba 1-0 away in Aba thanks to a goal from Ezekiel Moses in just the 18th minute. It's a landmark result for the newly promoted side after a difficult start to life in the top flight.

Kano Pillars ended Doma United's winning run in style, running out 4-1 winners at the Sani Abacha Stadium. Abdullahi Musa and Rabiu Ali had the hosts two goals up inside the first half, and although Sadiq Rilwan pulled one back for Doma just after the hour, Kano Pillars responded quickly with further goals from Ahmed Musa and Nasiru Salihu to put the game to bed.

Abia Warriors got their first win of the season, beating Sporting Lagos 2-0 away at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena. Ikoi Etta and Emeka Obioma were the scorers on a good day for the visitors.

Defending champions Rangers continued their fine form with a 4-2 away win over Kun Khalifat in the Oriental derby. Preye Seikorowei, Ayuba Umar, Temitope Folarin and Waheed Adebayo all got on the scoresheet, though Chimobi Igwilo did net twice in reply for the hosts.

Plateau United came from behind to beat Shooting Stars 3-1 in Jos. Taheer Abubakar gave the visitors a dream start with a goal inside the first minute, but Plateau United hit back through Jibrin Ibrahim, Seiyefa Jackson and Gideon Monday to turn the game around and claim all three points.

Warri Wolves edged out Kwara United 1-0 in Ozoro, with Ejike Ezekiel scoring the only goal of the game, while Nasarawa United and Rivers United shared the points in a 1-1 draw at the Lafia City Stadium. Harrison Ebah put Rivers United ahead in the 66th minute, but an own goal from Musa Yakubu ensured the hosts came away with a point.
