Raheem Sterling Admits Dangerous Driving After Lamborghini Crash

Former England footballer Raheem Sterling has admitted dangerous driving after crashing a Lamborghini into a metal gate on a motorway back in May.

The 31-year-old, from Berkshire, also pleaded guilty to possessing nitrous oxide for wrongful inhalation and failing to provide a specimen for analysis. He appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court after being arrested near the M3 in Hampshire on the morning of May 28.

Sterling admitted driving a Lamborghini Urus dangerously across the M25, the M3, the A327 and Minley Road before the crash. The court heard he veered into the central reservation of the motorway before eventually colliding with a metal gate in a layby on the A327. He was found to be carrying six canisters of nitrous oxide, a Class C drug.

Hampshire Police had previously said the incident involved a single vehicle near the Minley interchange on the M3 southbound, with no other cars involved and no injuries reported.

Sterling most recently played for Feyenoord in the Netherlands, joining after leaving Chelsea in January, though he made just eight appearances there. Before that, he spent four years at Chelsea, including a season-long loan at Arsenal, making 59 league appearances following his move from Manchester City in 2022. At City, he won four Premier League titles, having started his career at Liverpool before moving to Manchester in 2015.

He currently has 82 England caps, the last of which came at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, and is presently without a club. In 2021, he was made an MBE for services to racial equality in sport.

Sterling has been disqualified from driving in the meantime and will return to court for sentencing on November 25.
