AC Milan Renew Interest in Dortmund Teenager Luca Reggiani Ahead of January Window
Young Dortmund defender Luca Reggiani could leave the club in the winter window because he is not getting enough game time, and AC Milan are once again linked with him. Calciomercato.com reports the news, citing German paper Bild.
Bild says the 2008-born centre-back is now thinking about his future, and a return to Italy could appeal to him. Dortmund are said to be open to a sale if the right offer comes in. Inter and Milan both asked about him last summer, and Southampton made a bid shortly before the transfer window shut, but no deal happened.
Reggiani badly wanted to stay at Dortmund this season and prove himself, but chances have been few. He has played just 27 minutes in the Bundesliga against Hoffenheim and 23 minutes in the German Cup against Hamburg. Bild says the next few weeks will be key in deciding where he ends up.
Things looked very different last season. Niko Kovac backed the teenager, and from February to the end of the campaign he made eight league appearances, six of them starts. He also started one Champions League game against Atalanta. In his second start, he scored against Augsburg and became the youngest Italian to score in the Bundesliga, aged 18 years and 64 days.
He came through the Sassuolo youth team in Italy before moving to Dortmund.
