Barcelona Tie Xavi Espart to New Contract Until 2030
Barcelona have confirmed that teenage defender Xavi Espart has signed a new deal that keeps him at the club until June 2030.
The club announced the news on Thursday. The contract is a two-year extension on his old terms, and it comes with a pay rise. Espart has quickly become part of Hansi Flick's first-team plans.
The Spain Under-21 international is naturally right-footed, but he has done well on the left side of defence. He has often been picked ahead of Alejandro Balde and shares the role with Portugal's Joao Cancelo. This season he has played five times, all in La Liga. He scored against Levante and set up goals against Elche and Rayo Vallecano.
Espart joined La Masia from UE Vilassar de Mar in the summer of 2015. He broke into the senior squad last season, playing six times for 189 minutes. It was this summer's pre-season that really caught Flick's eye. He now sits alongside other 2007-born youngsters shining at the Camp Nou, including Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsi and Marc Bernal.Xavi Espart renews until 2030 More info 👉 https://t.co/6K7l2X8EoF https://t.co/BwxcJ1A5Cc
