Brentford Call Police Over 'Dangerous' Incident During Liverpool Defeat

Brentford have contacted the police after what they call a "dangerous" and "potentially very harmful" incident during Saturday's 2-1 home defeat to Liverpool at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Video shared on social media appears to show someone kicking a rugby ball from a nearby rooftop towards the pitch while the game was going on. The club said it knew about "an item being kicked from a height towards the field of play".

In a statement, Brentford said: "Brentford is aware of an incident involving an item being kicked from a height towards the field of play during Saturday’s match against Liverpool.

"Such behaviour is dangerous and potentially very harmful. The matter has been referred to the police and the club is supporting the relevant authorities in their investigation to help identify those responsible and take appropriate action, which may result in criminal prosecution.

The Bees concluded: "The matchday safety of fans, staff, players and officials is of utmost importance, and the club will support all efforts to ensure action is taken."

On the pitch, Alexander Isak scored a late winner as Liverpool came from behind to beat a Brentford side reduced to nine men.

The win lifted Liverpool into fifth place in the Premier League, with Keith Andrews' Brentford one place behind them.
