Dayot Upamecano Returns to Bayern Early After France Red Card

Dayot Upamecano will return to Bayern Munich earlier than expected after France released the defender from international duty following his red card against Italy.

The French Football Federation confirmed that Upamecano has been allowed to leave the national team camp and return to his club. The Bayern Munich defender was sent off during France’s 1-1 draw with Italy, meaning he would have missed the next international game through suspension anyway.

With Upamecano no longer available for the upcoming fixture, France decided to send him back to Munich rather than keep him with the squad.

The early return gives Bayern Munich the chance to have Upamecano back at Säbener Straße while several of his teammates remain away on international duty.

The Frenchman has been an important player for Vincent Kompany this season as Bayern continue to balance their Bundesliga and Champions League commitments.

Upamecano can now use the extra time in Munich to prepare for Bayern’s upcoming fixtures after an eventful night with France.

His next appearance will hopefully involve fewer cards and a much calmer evening.
