Finn Dahmen in Line for Germany Debut as Klopp Set to Make Another Goalkeeping Change
Finn Dahmen looks set to make his Germany debut against Greece on Sunday evening, in Jurgen Klopp's fourth game as head coach, Kicker reports.
The German magazine says the "signs are increasingly pointing" to the 28-year-old Augsburg goalkeeper getting his first senior cap. If he starts, he will be the fourth different keeper Klopp has used in four games.
Marc-Andre ter Stegen of Ajax played against the Netherlands, Alexander Nubel of Besiktas against Greece, and Jonas Urbig of Bayern Munich against Serbia.
The clue came in Saturday morning's final training session. Dahmen worked separately from Urbig and Eintracht Frankfurt's Noah Atubolu, which Kicker takes as a sign that he will be in goal.
It has not happened in a while. The last time Germany changed keepers for four straight games was six years ago. Between November 2019 and September 2020, Manuel Neuer, Kevin Trapp, Bernd Leno and ter Stegen each played 90 minutes in turn.
