Ezri Konsa Leaves England Camp With Two Injuries Ahead of Arsenal Return

England boss Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that Arsenal defender Ezri Konsa has left the squad to get treatment on two separate problems, which puts his place in Arsenal's next game against Leeds United in doubt.

Konsa went back to London after England's 7-0 win over Croatia in Rijeka. He will be checked by his club ahead of Arsenal's lunchtime kick-off against Leeds on Saturday. England's next match is at Wembley.

Tuchel said one issue was already there before Konsa arrived, and the second came during the Croatia game.

"The story is two different stories, Ezri felt discomfort when he came into camp, played with discomfort against Spain and it got a bit worse," he said at a press conference.

Konsa missed the win over Czechia in Prague but was cleared to play against Croatia. Tuchel said the latest problem is not serious.

"He left camp to get treatment for both of his issues now but I think nothing major but not worth the risk taking," he said.

The England boss also praised the player's attitude and said the new problem was a knock, not a muscle injury.

"We were happy with the attitude that he showed to stay in camp and be ready for Croatia and have a good match but unfortunately he picked up another one in the match. But from a knock, not a muscle injury or something," Tuchel added.

Konsa was not the only player to go. Midfielder Alex Scott is out with a quad injury. Tuchel explained that Scott tried hard to get fit in time for both games.

"He stayed in camp and tried everything for the match in Czechia that came too soon and we tried everything for the match in Croatia and gave green light," he said. "He finished all the training sessions in between and was ready to play but unfortunately he got another hit on the quad and it caused a little bit of light trauma and we decided not to let him play through this pain and discomfort again."

Tuchel said more updates would come through the day, but he expects everyone else to be available.

If Konsa misses out, it would hurt Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta. William Saliba is already out with a back problem, and Konsa has played regularly in the starting XI since joining in the summer.

There is some good news, though. Ben White, who has been out with a groin problem, is close to full fitness and could cover in central defence alongside Jurrien Timber. Cristhian Mosquera is also stepping up his recovery from a hamstring strain he picked up in August.
