Ligue 1 Sunday Roundup: Marseille, Nice and Rennes Claim Victories

Olympique de Marseille, Nice and Stade Rennais all picked up wins in Ligue 1 on Sunday, with late goals helping Marseille and Rennes secure comfortable finishes.

Marseille beat Troyes 2-0 at the Stade de l’Aube, with Amine Harit opening the scoring in the 50th minute after an assist from Emerson. Himad Abdelli then converted a stoppage-time penalty to seal the victory. Troyes created chances and hit the woodwork twice but could not find a way past Marseille’s defence. The visitors had less than half as many shots as their opponents but made their opportunities count.

Meanwhile, Nice came from behind to beat Strasbourg 2-1 at the Allianz Riviera. Dário Essugo gave Strasbourg the lead in the 41st minute, but Pape Diop’s own goal brought Nice level in first-half stoppage time. Jonathan Clauss then scored the winner in the 81st minute from a Sofiane Diop assist. Strasbourg enjoyed more possession but struggled to create clear chances as Nice took all three points.

Stade Rennais also produced a strong second-half display to defeat Auxerre 4-1 at Roazhon Park. Esteban Lepaul put Rennes ahead in the 15th minute before Cameron Archer equalised for Auxerre 10 minutes later. Adrien Thomasson restored Rennes’ lead in the 53rd minute, and substitute Boulaye Dia scored twice in stoppage time to complete the win.
