Manchester City Handed Erling Haaland Injury Worry Ahead of Liverpool Clash

Manchester City have an injury worry over Erling Haaland after the striker limped off during Norway's 2-1 Nations League loss to Portugal in Lisbon on Sunday night.

Haaland waved to the bench in the second half to say he needed to come off. Jorgen Strand Larsen got ready to replace him, but Haaland stayed on the pitch for a few minutes, clearly hobbling, before he was finally taken off in the 67th minute. There was some good news for City fans, though. Haaland walked off without help, and he even smiled and hugged Larsen on his way to the bench.

City boss Enzo Maresca will now have to wait for news on the injury. The timing is awkward, with a trip to Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday and a home Champions League game against Paris Saint-Germain the following Wednesday. If scans show a serious muscle problem, City could be without a player who already has seven goals this season for both games.

Norway had a rough night overall. Brentford defender Kristoffer Ajer put them ahead with a lovely volley in the 36th minute, but Joao Cancelo pulled Portugal level just two minutes later. Goncalo Ramos then poked home the winner in the 79th minute. It was a third defeat in a row for Stale Solbakken's side, who sit bottom of Group A4.

The news also comes at a messy time off the pitch for City, who are preparing for their first game since being found guilty of financial breaches. The club has lodged an appeal, but with all that going on, keeping everyone focused on football will not be easy.
