Arsenal, Barcelona and Sporting CP recorded victories in Tuesday's UEFA Champions League league phase action, while Manchester United lost 2-0 to Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan suffered their fourth consecutive defeat in the competition. Bayern Munich were held to a thrilling 3-3 draw by Norwegian side Viking, while Sabah, Club Brugge, RB Leipzig and Villarreal also claimed victories.
Arsenal maintained their perfect start to the league phase with a 3-0 victory over Lille at the Emirates Stadium. Jurrien Timber opened the scoring in the 64th minute after receiving a pass from Noni Madueke. Eberechi Eze doubled the lead three minutes later, finishing Bukayo Saka's cross, before Saka added the third in the 71st minute. The Gunners struggled to create clear chances in the first half but improved after the break, with substitutes Saka, Kai Havertz and Martin Odegaard helping them secure a comfortable win.
Barcelona came from behind to beat Galatasaray 4-1 in Istanbul. Aleksey Batrakov gave the Turkish side an early lead, but Joao Cancelo equalised two minutes before half-time. Fermin Lopez put Barcelona ahead in the 50th minute with a header from Lamine Yamal's cross, before Anthony Gordon scored three minutes later to make it 3-1. Fellow summer signing Karim Adeyemi completed the scoring after Gabriel Jesus helped the ball into his path following another Yamal delivery. Barcelona moved to six points from their opening two matches.
Manchester United suffered another setback with a 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid after conceding inside the first minute. Pablo Barrios opened the scoring after Alex Baena broke down the left and pulled the ball back into his path. United created several opportunities to equalise, with Bryan Mbeumo missing two good chances and Bruno Fernandes coming close after the break. However, Leny Yoro was sent off for a last-man foul on substitute Jonathan David, and Ademola Lookman sealed Atletico's win in the 79th minute.
Bayern Munich were held to a thrilling 3-3 draw by Norwegian champions Viking. Gianni Stensness headed the hosts in front in the second minute before Peter Christiansen doubled their lead in the 38th minute, giving Viking a 2-0 advantage at half-time. Harry Kane pulled one back from the penalty spot in the 54th minute before equalising six minutes later with an assist from Joshua Kimmich. Luis DÃaz then put Bayern ahead in the 71st minute after a pass from Konrad Laimer, but Michael Olise was sent off two minutes later after receiving two yellow cards. Viking took advantage of their numerical superiority, with substitute Herman Haugen heading home in the 90th minute after an assist from Zlatko Tripić to secure a memorable point.
Sporting CP made it two wins from two with a 2-0 victory over Lens in France. Luis Suarez opened the scoring in the 22nd minute after meeting a low cross from Nestory Irankunda with a first-time finish. Sporting goalkeeper Kaique Pereira then produced important saves to deny Amadou Haidara and Odsonne Edouard as Lens pushed for an equaliser. Issa Doumbia settled the contest in the 74th minute, running on to a superb through-ball from Silas Andersen before calmly beating Robin Risser.
Sabah claimed their first Champions League victory with a 2-0 win over Slavia Prague. Kaheem Parris opened the scoring in the 49th minute after collecting Ivan Lepinjica's cutback and finishing from the edge of the box. Slavia came close to equalising, but Sabah defended well before Joy-Lance Mickels sealed the win late on. Slavia goalkeeper Jakub Markovic miscontrolled the ball outside his area, and although Mickels' effort looked manageable, defender David Moses failed to clear it, allowing the ball to roll into the net.
Club Brugge defeated Inter Milan 4-3 in a seven-goal thriller, handing the Italian side their fourth consecutive Champions League defeat for the first time in their history. Nicolo Tresoldi opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 30th minute before Lautaro Martinez equalised just before half-time. Tresoldi took advantage of a mistake by goalkeeper Josep Martinez to restore Brugge's lead, then completed his hat-trick to make it 3-1. Lautaro scored again to give Inter hope, but Romeo Vermant made it 4-2 three minutes from time. Substitute Ange-Yoan Bonny pulled one back in the 93rd minute, but Inter could not find another goal.
RB Leipzig secured a narrow 1-0 victory over PSV Eindhoven at the Red Bull Arena. The sides were level at half-time after a tight opening period, but Brajan Gruda scored the decisive goal in the 75th minute to give Leipzig all three points.
Villarreal came from behind to beat Napoli 3-1 at the Estadio de la Cerámica. Amir Rrahmani gave Napoli the lead in the eighth minute, but Georges Mikautadze equalised for Villarreal in the 23rd minute. Santiago Mouriño put the hosts ahead three minutes later after an assist from Gerard Moreno. Napoli pushed for a response, but Tani Oluwaseyi sealed Villarreal's victory in the 86th minute following a pass from Ayoze Pérez.
