Arda Guler Explains Why He Stole Mbappe's Goal in Real Madrid's 4-1 Win
The goal came in the second half at the Bernabeu. Mbappe floated a header towards goal, but Guler cheekily nicked it right in front of the line to make it 2-0. His prediction turned out to be spot on, as Mbappe went on to score Madrid's third. Tidiam Gomis pulled one back for Leipzig, and record signing Yan Diomande rounded off the win.
Guler was happy with the team's work on the night. "We're really pleased because I think we played brilliantly, both with and without the ball. I think we put in a great performance and we're very happy," he said.
He said the standard at Madrid leaves no room for slip-ups, and he praised the home fans. "This is what we have to do. We're Real Madrid, and we have to win every match," he said. He added: "It's a key factor because when we play at home, in front of our fans, we try to give it our all for them."
Guler is now looking ahead to Sunday's Clasico against Barcelona, which could have a big say in the La Liga title race. "It's a big match, a top-class fixture, and we'll give it our all to win. We're ready," he said.
Madrid will go into that game in good form, with Guler in fine touch, Mbappe back on the scoresheet and Diomande continuing to score.
