Man Utd Face Major Concern as Eight Players Absent Before Como Clash

Manchester United have a big injury problem before Wednesday's Champions League game away at Como, with eight players missing from training on Tuesday, including Marcus Rashford and Lisandro Martinez.

Michael Carrick's side want to bounce back from last week's 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid, but their defence is badly short of options.

Harry Maguire was the only senior centre-back in the session at Carrington. Martinez was absent with a thigh problem picked up against Leeds United, where he was taken off at half-time, and he is a doubt for the trip to Italy.

Leny Yoro also missed training, but he is already out of the Como game after his red card against Atletico. He is reportedly on an individual programme.

Rashford is also in serious doubt because of a hip injury that kept him out of the session. Ayden Heaven, Kobbie Mainoo and Luke Shaw were missing too.

Shaw has not played since the full 90 minutes of the 1-1 draw with Tottenham a fortnight ago, when he picked up his injury.

Mainoo was also hurt in that game. Club sources say late decisions will be made on these players before the squad flies out, so some could still make the trip.

Benjamin Sesko and Patrick Dorgu remain out. Sesko has a shin problem with no clear return date, while Dorgu has a suspected hamstring injury from the Wales game, which also made him pull out of Denmark's squad in September.

At full-back, Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui are the only established options. Harry Amass and Jaydan Kamason trained with the first team but are unlikely to play, and it is unclear who will partner Maguire at centre-back.

United have three points from their two Champions League games, after beating Sabah 4-0 in their opener. Cesc Fabregas' Como have also won one and lost one, so both sides are level on three points.
